Travel and Parking Tips

We would like to offer some important travel and parking tips as you plan to attend your Georgetown University’s Commencement ceremonies.

Tips for Travel

  • Please allot extra time for travel to campus, as delays could occur on the roads leading to the University.
  • We urge you to consider taking a taxi or ride share to campus due to limited parking. We recommend getting dropped off at 35th & N, O or P Streets, NW to avoid unnecessary congestion.
  • Georgetown University provides shuttle service (GUTS) from Dupont and Rosslyn areas during the week. There will be special Saturday service from Rosslyn only, 7 a.m – 9:30 p.m.
  • In the event of inclement weather, commencement ceremonies may be moved. You may visit the Commencement website or call the University Weather Line 202-687-7669 to confirm ceremony locations.
  • Campus Maps will be available on campus at the Program Tent in Healy Circle and will be posted on our website for printing.
  • Free accessible shuttle buses will be available to escort people from the parking facilities to the graduation site. The shuttles will stop at various places around campus and will run on the following schedule:
    • Thursday, May 18, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
    • Friday, May 19, 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
    • Saturday, May 20, 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.
    • Sunday, May 21, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Tips for Parking

Parking for graduation will require patience and a little planning prior to arrival.

  • Please enter campus via Canal Road only
  • All Georgetown University Hospital (MedStar) parking during Commencement is at the regular daily rate. You will be charged full prices if you park in one of the Hospital lots. Current rate is $75.00 per day.

Below is information to help you get to and from Commencement activities:

Thursday

On-campus parking will be extremely limited. Guests are encouraged to take Metro and transfer to free Georgetown University shuttles (GUTS) at either Dupont Circle (Red Line) or Rosslyn (Blue/Orange Line). Due to commencement activities, on-campus GUTS bus stops and routes will be relocated to North Road, south of Cooper Field. The Commencement GUTS bus schedules and maps can be found on the OTM website. You may also take taxis or ride shares to and from campus. Guest parking will be available in the Southwest Garage, accessible via Canal Road. After striped spaces are full, attendants will valet park cars. Once the garage is full, we will be directing cars to our off site location at the Harris building. We will be providing free shuttle service to and from the Harris lot to campus. You must retrieve your car by 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.
